Will Juan Antonio Bayona really helm "Eclipse?"

Summit Entertainment's president Erik Feig is accusing Los Angeles Times blogger Patrick Goldstein of misquoting him yesterday (March 12) regarding Nikki Finke's report about hiring Juan Antonio Bayona as the new director for "Eclipse."
Summit Entertainment's president of worldwide production and acquisitions Erik Feig is accusing Los Angeles Times blogger Patrick Goldstein of misquoting him today about the accuracy of my reporting. And the movie executive has apologized to me. Feig also confirms that there's no policy at his studio demanding that journalists must contact him, and only him, whenever they write about Summit films. (Especially since I've posted more than 25 news articles about Summit pictures in the past year, many of them scoops, and never got that Finke-Must-Call-Feig memo.) Feig told me he plans to confont the LA Times columnist who has slammed me three times this week alone (and each time mischaracterized what I'd written and refused to correct it). I'm still waiting for Goldstein to publish my response today that I stand by my story, which I worded very specifically to say: "I can confirm that Summit Entertainment is telling Hollywood privately that Juan Antonio Bayona will direct Eclipse." I'd hate to think Patrick is becoming one of those journalists who, because they can't break news, dump on those who do. And I look forward to Feig demonstrating that being a Hollywood exec, and doing the right thing, are not mutually exclusive.

New Moon starts filming Monday

In a recent interview of jackson rathbone with TwistMagazine, he revealed that they will start filming the Twilight sequel "New Moon" this coming Monday.
"[Rehearsals] They're going great, they're going great. We're actually going to start filming on Monday, so be sure to check it out," Rathbone dished last night after a cast dinner. So fun!"

Twilight stars vanish from Vancouver

The casts of Twilight went to Vancouver for the pre-production of New Moon. And according to LaineyGossip the vamps has left Vancouver and will return again next Monday to start filming the sequel.

4. The proposal.

This is the one moment that can make this movie the New Moon of our dreams. Although Edward is just telling Bella he will only turn her into a vampire if she marries him first, the sentiments are very real. He’s just caused her an immense amount of pain by leaving her and his redemption must be more than sweet. The vampire / marriage discussion is paramount to the way viewers will feel about Edward and Bella by the end of the movie.

3. Werewolf action.

The werewolves are coming out in full force and they need to “bring it.” The more we learn about how awesome they are, the better the build up will be for Eclipse. Plus, the scene where the werewolves save Bella from Laurent will be the only piece of pure action in New Moon. The more it can be played up for excitement purposes, the better.

2. The Volturi are straight from a horror film.

The scene with the Volturi needs to be terrifying. There’s a whole lot of talking and scheming but the truth is that the Volturi are extremely dangerous and Bella, Alice, and Edward come very close to being killed. The need to look creepy and be the types of images that might give us nightmares. We need to see the power behind them and feel the threat they impose

1. Robert Pattinson

This one is kind of obvious but really important. I’m sure the script has been written in one way or another to give Robert Pattinson plenty of screen time. However, this needs to be done in a way that stays true to the story that Stephenie Meyer told in New Moon. We know that Edward struggles with his existence without Bella and we know he struggles with his decision. Seeing that will be nice but like Bella, it can’t go over the top. Seeing Edward/ Robert Pattinson in happier moments is a must. Plus, more Robert Pattinson would make any movie a little bit better.

To help promote the DVD, we've spoken to many of the franchise's stars over the past few days — and they're every bit as excited as the Twilighters to dig into two discs celebrating Stephenie Meyer-mania.

"We did an audio commentary and I can't wait for everyone to hear it," Kristen Stewart beamed, talking about a giggle-heavy track featuring herself, director Catherine Hardwicke and Robert Pattinson. "There are outtakes. There wasn't a day that went by that we didn't have camera crews on set. They have hours of footage to put together for the eager audience."

Summit hires new 'Twilight' director, right? Wrong!

According to Los Angeles Times the rumors about Summit Entertainment hiring Juan Antonio Bayona to direct "Eclipse" are completely false. The news about Bayona was being hired by Summit was published in an article from DeadlineHollywoodDaily writer Nikki Finke.

"By sheer coincidence, I had lunch today with Erik Feig, who’s president of production at Summit and the man most involved with managing the hit series of films. ("New Moon," the second film in the series, begins production later this month with Chris Weitz at the helm.)"

"Feig was shocked to see the media reports saying Summit had hired Bayona, since -- ahem -- they’re not true. "The 'Eclipse' directing job hasn’t been offered to Juan Antonio or anyone else," he told me. "We’ve met with three or four talented filmmakers and we’ll be meeting with three or four more other candidates before we make any decision. No one has been offered the job."

Kristen Stewart spills on DVD features and New Moon

Starpulse sat down with Kristen Stewart for an interview where she dished on the Twilight DVD features and "New Moon" director Chris Weitz.

"I love outtakes," Stewart said. "I love when the fantasy is broken down and revealed to everyone. I think it's funny. Literally, there wasn't a day that went by that we didn't have camera crews on set so I'm sure that they have hours of footage to cut together for the eager audience."

The sequel, New Moon begins shooting later this month, with Chris Weitz taking over directing. "Chris is like the most genuinely vested. He didn't just like jump on the bandwagon like, 'Ooh, let's get the next big successful movie. I want to do Twilight too.' He really likes it and is entirely involved. He's a really sweet guy and we're all really excited to work with him. I really like his work as well so it all just works out." Click here to read more.

On his rumored girlfriend: “There’s literally not a single [true] story that could be written about me. I never do anything. There’s this thing about my supposed girlfriend. There’s this one girl who’s consistently mentioned. It’s like, ‘He’s dating this Brazilian model.’ What’s her name—-Annelyse. I’ve never met her.”

On being romantically involved with Camilla Belle, who is dating Joe Jonas: “That’s the funniest [rumor]. No. I mean, yeah, yeah, I’m friends with Camilla… It’s funny, though, because I met her at her place the other day, and there’s a security gate, and even the security woman—I guess she knows that Camilla lives there, and she was like, ‘Oooh!’ …I mean, Camilla’s the nicest—she’s a saint. And it’s funny that she’s being portrayed as this home wrecker. She’s literally the most unlikely person to be a home wrecker. It’s just ridiculous.”

On his new period film, Little Ashes, in which he plays a young Salvador Dali: “I thought I’d never get another acting job again. So I was like, ‘Yeah—why not try to do something weird?’ There’s all these gay sex scenes. And y’know, I haven’t even done a sex scene with a girl, in my whole career… And here I am, with Javier [Beltrán], who plays Lorca, doing an extremely hard-core sex scene, where I have a nervous breakdown afterward. And because we’re both straight, what we were doing seemed kind of ridiculous.”

On any last comments: “Okay, (deep breath) I f—ed Joe Jonas. I love him.”

'Twilight' Success Puts Focus On Kristen Stewart In 'Cake Eaters'

When Kristen Stewart sat down with Larry Carroll during the press junket for her movie "The Cake Eaters" she explained how hard it is to play a character suffering from the nerve disease Friedreich's ataxia.

"The only way that I could imitate the physical aspects is literally to just do an impersonation; I don't know what it feels like, I could never say that I would," she admitted. "There's more responsibly than just your own self-inflicted care for the character. So I spoke to girls that Mary Stuart put me in contact with [who suffer from Friedreich's ataxia], I got to know their families, one of them specifically a lot. They are so unbelievably brave and honest. ... They are willing to enjoy life, while everyone around them just wants to pity them."

Nikki Finke of DeadlineHollywoodDaily, the person who brought us the inside scoop about the green light for the Twilight sequel "New Moon", Catherine Hardwicke being replaced and all the other news about Twilight that hasn't hit the radars of other celebrity news website is now bringing us another update on who will direct the third installment "Eclipse." According to Nikki Finke, Summit Entertainment has finally chosen a new director for "Eclipse" and its no other than "The Orphanage" director Juan Antonio Bayona.
"I can confirm that Summit Entertainment is telling Hollywood privately that Juan Antonio Bayona will direct Eclipse. It's a vdry out-of-the-box choice for the 3rd movie in the "Twilight Saga" series of Stephenie Meyer vampire novels being hurried to the big screen by the start-up studio. (I guess it doesn't matter that other sources tell me Bayona hasn't yet met Stephenie, huh?) Known as a horror wunderkjind and Guillermo Del Toro protege, the age 33 Bayona screened his Spanish language Gothic mystery El Orfanato (The Orphanage) to a 10-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. Eclipse is his English language debut. Chris Weitz has already replaced Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke on the sequel New Moon due in November. Eclipse is set for release June 30, 2010, and features battles between werewolves and vampires. Now the question is whether the Twilight fans and Stephenie Meyer will say "Olé"."

Twilight Emerges As Retail’s Great Savior

According to New York Magazine Twilight has saved Hot Topic from retail death. Thanks to the Twilight merchandise they've been selling, Hot Topic's sales keep incresing every month since the movies release in November. This welcome break from never-ending economic doom and gloom is brought to you by Twilight, the movie responsible for boosting Hot Topic's sales 11.4 percent in the third quarter. What? Yes. Twilight merchandise has saved Hot Topic from bloody retail death in the economic downturn. Just look at the numbers:

The mall-based retailer’s comparable-store sales were negative from the second quarter of 2005 until October 2008. They have risen each month since then, increasing 6.5 percent in November, 4.3 percent in December, 6 percent in January and 10.8 percent last month.

Ashley Greene talks "New Moon" and Charity

TheTangent caught up with Twilight star Ashley Greene in Vancouver where the cast is rehearsing for "New Moon." She talks about the Twilight sequel, the rumors about the new director for Eclipse and how much she loves dressing up for red carpet appearances. "Oh my gosh, I love [getting dressed up]," she said. "I run around, especially during football season, in jeans and T-shirts. There's something about being a girl that's so fun — getting the perfect shoes jewelry and doing your makeup."

Twilight DVD: Comic Con 2008


Yep, I was there at Comic-Con 2008 to witness “Twilight” taking over pop culture. At the time, MTV News had been reporting on it for about six months, and “Twilight Tuesdays” were in full swing, but whenever I’d mention the upcoming movie to other journalists, I’d usually get blank stares. They were there to cover “Watchmen” or “The Spirit” or “Star Trek” - but once the line of Twilighters wrapped around the San Diego Convention center, Stephenie Meyer’s vampire phenomenon suddenly became a whole lot harder to ignore.

From a personal point of view, the coolest thing about this bonus footage is that I was lucky enough to stand backstage with the cast, right near that camera. I spoke with the stars and watched them all run out onstage to see 7000 fans screaming their names. Just before the part where you see Taylor Lautner going out there, he confided in me that he was very nervous. But they were all so genuinely happy to be there. Click here to read more.

"[My conversation with him] was revolving around the look of the Cullens; I don't know if we necessarily got it right the first time around," Reed explained. I know a lot of people think it was just me that changed how I looked physically, but Peter Facinelli has black hair, and he has to go back blond [for 'New Moon']. Juan Antonio Bayona To Direct 'Eclipse'?

There have been a lot of speculation on who will direct the third installment of the Twilight saga "Eclipse." Drew Barrymore expressed her interest to direct "Eclipse" and recently told The Associated Press "I'm one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great, because I'm a director now, but, you know, they'll make their choice." Another director being considered to helm the third film is "New Moon" director Chris Weitz's brother Paul Weitz. But according to MTV it seems like spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, protégé of Guillermo del Toro is currently in the lead. "Most of Bayona's work has been based in the horror genre. The Spanish director was the man behind "The Orphanage." "Eclipse" would be Bayona's English-language directorial debut if he and Summit can hash out a deal." Click here to read more.
